Our Story

We're creating the kind of healthcare we wish our mothers, our aunties, and our younger selves had, and the kind Black women deserve now.

Kyndred grew out of a simple truth: Black women deserve healthcare that sees, hears, and prioritizes us from the very beginning, not as an afterthought. Our founders came to this work as clinicians, therapists, educators, and organizers, creating spaces where Black women could ask real questions about health, sex, pleasure, and our bodies and be met with honest information, without judgment. Those conversations grew into KIMBRITIVE, a community reaching thousands of Black women through education, conversation, and experiences both online and in person.

And the more we listened, the clearer something became: Black women didn't just need better health information. We needed better healthcare.

Today, Kyndred is a virtual health home designed for Black women, with care spanning sexual, hormonal, and whole-body health through every season of adult life. Our model brings together evidence-based, root-cause care, education, community, and navigation to create a healthcare experience where Black women can be believed, informed, and cared for as whole people.

What we do

Kyndred is a virtual, holistic health home reimagining sexual, reproductive, hormonal, and whole-person care for Black women. Day to day, that looks like building a care experience where Black women are believed the first time, where we look beyond symptoms to understand what may be driving them, and where care is designed for longer, healthier, more joyful lives, not just quick fixes.

Our work today includes sexual and reproductive wellness, including telemedicine medication abortion care; whole-body diagnostic support through the WTF Visit; and deeper care programs for concerns like PCOS, period problems, hormonal symptoms, gut issues, and metabolic health. Beyond clinical care, Sugar brings personalized health education into the care experience, Kyn creates space for community, conversation, and joy, our Healthcare Homegirls help patients navigate what comes next, and the Kyndred Care Network connects them to trusted care beyond Kyndred.

Who We Center

Kyndred is built for and by Black women and our communities, and we are intentional about naming who we center. When we say Black women, we mean cis Black women, trans Black women, femmes, and non-binary kin across the diaspora.

Our current clinical services are most directly designed around the care needs of Black cis women, Black transmasculine people, and Black gender-expansive people assigned female at birth whose bodies and care needs align with the services we offer.

At the same time, you do not have to be Black or a woman to receive care at Kyndred. We welcome patients across race, gender identity, and sexual orientation. We name Black women explicitly because healthcare has too often been designed around a different default patient, overlooking, underserving, or excluding us.

Kyndred exists as a response to that reality: a place where Black women can encounter care that is intentional, affirming, and designed with us in mind, and where our team can practice in alignment with those values.

Where we’re headed

We are building a nationwide, hybrid care home that meets Black women wherever we are, online, in our neighborhoods, and across every stage of our lives. We believe Black women deserve care that makes longer, healthier, more joyful lives possible, defined not only by survival but by longevity, thriving, pleasure, and real well-being.

Over the next several years, we are focused on three big moves.

As we grow, we are not just adding services or locations; we are working to change the standard of care for Black women in this country. That includes directly confronting the chronic stress, cumulative harm, and shortened life expectancy Black women experience in this healthcare system, and designing care that actively interrupts those patterns instead of reinforcing them. It means setting measurable expectations for what respectful, evidence-based, culturally rooted care looks like, partnering with systems and payors to make that care accessible, and training the next generation of clinicians to practice in ways that disrupt bias and medical harm.
